Now, it goes without saying that there are a lot of different essential oils which quite beneficial and very powerful.  Bergamot essential oil is undoubtedly one of them.  It’s an extract which is created from the rind or the peel of a pear shaped fruit in the citrus family.  As such, the overall aroma of the oil is a bit citrusy yet characteristically sweet. It also has quite some depth to it, and that’s something that a lot of people feel very enjoyable.  This fruity, spicy scent is widely used in the aromatherapy, cosmetic and fragrance industries.

One of the primary uses of bergamot essential oil is to support your digestive system as well as to properly rejuvenate and enhance your skin.  At the same time, it is known to provide you with a whole lot of emotional wellness-related benefits which is considered its strongest suit.

Primary Benefits of the Oil

There are a few different primary benefits which are derived from bergamot essential oil.  Right off the bat, it’s going to provide you with a soothing and rather calming aroma which is very nerve-relaxing.  The oil is also known to ensure healthy and clear skin.  As such, it’s one of the commonly used essences for massage therapies – it delivers a lot of associated advantages.

It’s also worth noting that there are quite a lot of emotional benefits. It’s used to capitalize on positive emotions such as self-acceptance, self-worth, and self-love, for instance, and to drive away ones which are negatively impacting you such as self-hatred or self-judgment.

Uses of Bergamot Essential Oil

You can easily use the oil throughout all the application methods – aroma, topical and internal.  Add a few drops into a commercially bought diffuser to create your own aroma therapy.  At the same time, you can apply one drop per 4 fl. oz. of liquid and consume the oil internally in order to induce integral digestive benefits.  This is something particularly convenient.  One of the best ways to achieve it is to add Bergamot to your Earl Grey tea and this way everything will be handled perfectly.

Bergamot essential oil can be used to treat skin ailments such as psoriasis and eczema and it is considered to relieve stress and anxiety.  Bergamot is widely used in potpourri and perfumes.  Can also be used in lotions to soothe inflammatory skin conditions.  Bergamot essential oil is a key ingredient in the classic fragrance Eau-de-Cologne.

Last but not least, this could also be used topically. In order to prevent any significant skin irritations, it is best to use the oil with carrier oil – this way you can ensure that the bergamot essential oil won’t irritate overly sensitive areas.
